Posts: 73 Jun 1 08 6:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None How is the reliability with the CZ-70? I have a CZ-83 with no problems .Its from 1986 . I also have a new CZ-75B , no problems . But I have read some good and some bad about CZ-70's . I dont know if its people that were using hollow points in them instead of FMJ's like I think they were built for . I hear of failures to feed/eject and so on , but like I said , maybe they were just using hollow points . I have my eye on a nice CZ-70 now but I dont want to get a dud . What experiences do you guys have with the CZ-70? Good ,bad ,or what ?

Posts: 16340 Jun 2 08 2:59 AM CZF Chief Moderator CZF Supporter Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The gun itself can be very reliable -- but when there are problems, its generally due to magazines. Get a couple of new magazines (they're often available from CDNN INVESTMENTS, online) and you'll probably have a trouble-free gun.

Posts: 1139 Jun 2 08 10:54 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The current CZ company (CZ-UB and CZ-USA) never made any of the old military firearms so the new mags that you can buy are reproductions, for the most part, or old ones from early military contracts. Also remember that the CZ 50 and the CZ 70 are basically the same pistol and mags are interchangeable from one to the other. +1 on Euro ammo. I use S&B in my CZ 50 and it runs flawlessly! Otto The Uhersky Brod plant made almost all of the CZ 70s. I'm not sure about the CZ 50s, which could have been made at the UB plant, Strakonice, and/or Brno. Uhersky Brod made virtually all pistols in the CSSR from about 1960 to 1990. CZ 50s were not in continuous production from 1950 to 1970, so I don't know who made what. Mr. Mirek Topolánek, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, presents U.S. President George W. Bush with a CZ 550 rifle made by Česká zbrojovka a.s., Uherský Brod. The rifle was hand engraved and chambered in .308 Winchester.

I haven't fired my Vz 70 much, somewhere on the close order of 500 rds, but I've had no malfs whatever. Most of that has been with ball ammo with an about even split between S&B and CCI Blazer. The rest was the same 60 gr. Speer Gold Dot JHPs that I carry in my KelTec P32 "always" pistol.

Posts: 73 Jun 13 08 5:08 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	thanks to all . Due to problems here and there , I have decided to go with the Glock 17 . I wanted "one more gun for the year" . I have always wanted a G-17 but this CZ-70 looked so good . But then as I always say " Function Over Fashion" . I like CZ's . Just as I do my CZ-83 and CZ-75B , but with reports like good here but bad there I decided to go with a gun I know works every time. The G-17 . It is the Glock model that started it all. So thanks to all that helped in my information quest . Cz's still rule

Posts: 16340 Jun 14 08 4:39 AM CZF Chief Moderator CZF Supporter Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The .32 acp guns are 1) not very powerful, 2) expensive to feed, and 3) generally (with a few exceptions) quite large and heavy for what they do. Having a CZ-50 or CZ-70 as a part of a larger collection makes sense, but as serious weapons for self-defense or home defense, these guns leave much to be desired. The Glock 17, on the other hand, is a fine weapon -- and if you can adapt to the unusual Glock grip design, you'll find it a very effective and serviceable weapon.

I bought it for a good price last year very cheaply and it was basically unfired. I put about 30 S&B .32 acp round through it without failure. 2 mags and unmatching box. It's not really what I would carry, the ergonomics are minimal at best for me, it is not the highpoint of CZ weaponry. For some it is a nice carry pistol, other have one (like me) because they enjoy CZs in general. But I could/would trade it tomorrow and not look back. But none-the-less it's decent, reliable, goes bang, and it's faster than a skill saw or 1/2" drill. If it was all I had, I'd work to relegate it to back-up status as soon as possible with a higher power pistol. Steve

I got it purely because they used to sell for around $80. I sold it because I had no use for it, and one of my aunts actually liked it. It was perfectly reliable and performed as it should, but I really had no use for a .32 ACP. Mr. Mirek Topolánek, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, presents U.S. President George W. (They weren't UNSAFE, but would wear more quickly than you'd expect.) I had a CZ-50, bought in nearly unfired condition. Over a period of a year or two, I fired maybe 200 rounds through it, and the metal at the rear of the slide -- where it pushes the hammer back during recoil -- began to gaul and raise a small mound. That could be filed down and the gun would function fine, and in my case, it had not affected function. I've talked with others who had this happen, and still others who had their guns cease functioning because of wear on the back of slide: it wore enough metal off that sharp edge at the rear of the slide that the slide would no longer reset the hammer. These are OK little guns, but were never used in their military or police roles in ways that would generate high round counts, and I doubt that they will have a LONG functional life. A Kel-Tec P32 or P3AT, or the new Ruger L380 makes a lot more sense for guns in those calibers, and they'll be a lot lighter and more concealable, too. That said, my CZ-50 was very accurate, and with good mags, very reliable. A far better bet, for most of us, would be a Bulgarian Makarov in 9x18 (9mm Mak.) Otto Yep...I have heard that from an old die-hard Walther PP/PPK fan...he recommends Fiocchi....but I prefer S&B..and it works great in my Cz52 in 7.62 Tok and the 9mm Kurz in my PPK and PP

But, I wonder how the CZ82 would compare, besides the higher round cap..any comments? P.S - The Mak loves S&B, too

That said, those who have shot both (the Mak and the CZ) generally prefer the CZ-82 or CZ-83. It is a more-refined weapons. (I've had a German Mak, and it was a first-rate gun. I've shot the CZ-83, and consider it one of the best .380s/9x18s you can get.) I guess it all boils down to what you can afford -- and if you want the round. For self-defense, I think the CZ-82/83 and Mak are large and a bit on the anemic side; particularly when you can got to the new super-small 9x19s (such as the Kahr PM9) and get more punch in a smaller package. I often carry a Kel-Tec P3AT (.380) and would also look at the new small Ruger if I were shopping for a small, very concealable gun. And that's the only reason I'd consider a sum-9x19 round in a carry gun. Just for plinking, I'd stick to the standard 9mm, if only because its cheaper ammo!
