I was curious to check whether my local gunsmith has done a good job on my SP-01 Shadow, thus compare the trigger pull I have with others'.
Here's mine:
DA is 5.8 #
SA is 1.9 #
Thanks for your comments.

Those are good numbers. 5.8 lbs on DA is probably close to as low as you can go and still get reliable ignition. My DA breaks at 6 lbs. For SA, I'm
happy with 3 lbs and a short reset with a firm trigger return.

Thanks d_pedro!
Hey eerw, looks like a I have a slighlty lighter main spring, but also that you have a better trigger job

Matt Mink did my trigger on this gun..the mating of the hammer hooks and the sear are great..
The DA..if I remember correctly is a 15# cut a couple of coils.. I have been playing around with 13#, 15# and 16# mainsprings at different lengths and different diameters to see what the effects are.. you can get a really light DA..with a 13# cut 3 coils and narrow the diameter..and now playing with firing pins and firing pin springs. something to do..

You're right, I like playing with springs as well, and - as much as I'm able to do it myself - try to get some surfaces to mirror finish. I always pay attention though, to not ruin the work done by the pistolsmith.. I've dropped the CCI 500 primers now and switched to Winchester WSP (this is to prepare for a lighter trigger pull that may cause primers to not be set off).. The idea would be to get to something like 5.3 DA and 1.75 SA, but not to go any further than that.. Thx

unable to find any longer firing pins..so after some talking with Matt and Angus..I ended cutting the firing pin spring 3 coils..
I have gotten the DA down to 5.5# with the firing pin block in.. so far it ignites winchester, federal, and CCI primers..so I am happy with that.. |
