40p stepchild?

i dont get it , is this the pistol the red headed stepchild of cz?, i have the 75b in 9 and in 40, and to date out of 15 pistols that i currently have ,not to mention the ones that have come thru my hands and out,the cz's stand as my all time favorites, but as soon as i click on this forum room for the 40p all i see is problems why? is this right or am i seeing things, i thought about buying this pistol at cabelas when it was on sale but now im glad i did'nt.....but such a nice...

Strange magazine problem

I just bought two 12 round Mec-Gar 40 S&W magazines (MGCZ4012B). Both work fine with WWB FMJ, but when I try and load them with Remington UMC JHPs, they jam up after about 8 rounds. When I say jam up, I mean you cannot load more than 8 rounds into the magazine. I made a short video of the problem. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? So far I have not been able to get Mec-Gar to return my e-mails.

40P updates...

I've been lookin at buying one of these 40Ps... but have seen alot of 'problem posts' over the past couple months with FTFs, ammo, etc... Wondering how these guns are working out and if any of the owners have resolved their initial problems. I own five CZs and to date, they have EACH been flawless, so I'm surprised by some of these problems. Appreciate any new input. Thanks.

CZ40P parts

I own a CZ40P. I'm looking for a recoil spring, stainless steel recoil spring guide and bushing. I e-mailed CZ tech support and believe it or not, their answer was " can't help you on that one". The gun ejects the casing ok, but sometimes I have to push on the rear of the slide to get the bullet to feed into the receiver (barrel). Do you know anyone in the Phoenix area that may carry parts?

FTF problems

I took my 40P to the local gunsmith, and got it back today. He deffently said the feedramp was an issue. He polished it three different times along with the face, and ejector. I will hopefully be able to shoot it next week. This guy is top notch anyone who shoots competition will only have him work on their guns. I told him about the magazines he said that should not be the problem at all. He said with a bad magazine you will have more then one FTF per magazine every magazine. He said...

Feed ramp polish

40P disassembly - Field Strip

I am trying to Field Strip my CZ 40P and the slide stop pin will not come out. This should come apart just like a CZ 75 right?

Just line up the marks on the slide and frame, then push the slide stop pin out?

Range Results

I went to the range again to see how my 40P did with FTF's. So far I have put about 200-300 rounds through it. I first gave her a good cleaning, and lube job. I had 50 rounds of Magtech, and 50 rounds of Blazer Brass. Out of 50 rounds of the Magtech I had 3 FTF. Out of 50 rounds of Blazer I had 9 FTF. Huge improvement over when I first got it. Magtech by far has been the best over Winchester, Rimington, and Blazer. The slide spring is plenty stiff. Also I'm 100% certain that the mag...

XS 24/7 Big Dots

I contacted XS about getting Big Dots for the 40P. They said they don't have them but said that they do have them for the 40B. Well, the slide is the same so I mentioned this to them. Those should work fine. Has anyone put Big Dots on their 40P? Is it difficult to swap sights on this slide? I thought I saw a post in the P-01 forum about adding a decocker to the right side (like those on the SP-01). Since the 40P and P-01 share the same frame I was wondering if CZ does this. Has anyone inquired with them? Is so, how much did they quote you?

just put a c/z 40p on layaway @ cabelas, but after reading ,more and more, complaints about ftf's, ejection problems, sight problems, im really reconsdering, i currently own the c/z 75, it's my alltime favorite pistol, ive owned alot of handguns but never owned a 40s/w of any kind, but thought of trying out this pistol because it's just to damn pretty, plz be honest with me ,if you think the trouble is not worth the time & $$$...thx

The 40p had to go today, I needed money to fix my car (headgasket), and to tow it 2 hours back to the house. Now im stuck with about 200 rounds of .40 that Im not going to use. On the bright side, this gives me a really good reason to get a 75B.

300 Round Range Report

Took the CZ 40-P out the range yesterday. Fired 300 rounds of PMC FMJ flat points. The first 200 rounds saw fairly frequent FTF's, but a rap on the bottom of the magazine usually sent the slide home. The last 100 rounds (to my relief) were utterly flawless. My father-in-law fired a magazine at around 150 rounds and had a FTF almost every other round. He was not impressed in the least. I told him the gun didn't like him

Newbie to the CZ world here.. I just took down my 40p for an initial cleaning after purchase.. I currently own a M&P 9mm and a Glock 23. I shoot frequently and clean and lube after each session. I'll get right to it.. the recoil spring guide to me is SCARY.. it appears to be awful weak for this weapon. After placing it back into the barrel reciever notch, it had a slight bend to it. A bunch of fail to loads

I shot my 40p for the first time today.

The accuracy was great and the gun felt really nice.

The problem is that I had to help probably 35 of the 50 rds I shot to finish loading. They all ejected perfectly they just didn't fully load.

Is this normal? The gun is new and I had disassembled it and cleaned it before going to the range. I don't think I limp wristed it. I was also shooting my Ruger p95 and Taurus 24/7 45 cal with no problems. Advice will...

where should a stainless guide rod be trimmed to?

As a new 40p owner, I have read and read on here. I have ordered a stainless guide rod which seems to be the thing to do. My question...
Where should it be trimmed to? Shouls it be flush on the end of the barrell? The same size as the original? Or somewhere in between?

I appreciate any guidance you can offer!
