Impressions and grip question

Okay, I've had two sessions with my new 85B. I've put around 225 rounds through it, and I have to say I love it. My accuracy has dramatically improved. Of course I was previously shooting a S&W 60-15 (3" j frame) and my Colt Pocket Nine so I would expect any larger pistol to outperform those two in the accuracy department. Love the feel of the gun. I've shot a number of polymer guns and can't say I'm a fan of any of them. Perhaps I will feel differently the...

Combat or Stainless? What's a lefty to do?

Hello. I'm fairly new to gun ownership. I was in a gun shop the other day when I saw a blued Combat (it wasn't the poly-coat) on consignment. Being a lefty I was interested, but was a bit concerned about the lack of a firing pin safety....

Hello,

first post here...I recently put a down payment on an 85 Combat and have a couple minor questions. But before i ask them let me state that this pistol will be used for plinking and (not so serious) target work. So i won't be usuing hot loads or anything like that.

so, here it goes:

1) Is it worth installing a recoil buffer?
2) Is it worth getting a steel guide rod?
3) Does the factory spring work well with lighter loads?
4) Are there any...

Walt,

I have an 85 combat and I was wondering if you would know if there is a laser site that would fit/mount to the 85 combat at the present time. I know the grip mounted sites won't fit up on the 85 combat due to the ambi safety lever on the right side. I direct this question toward you since you have an 85 combat and (from reading your many posts) you seem to have pretty up-to-date knowlege on it.

Help with Extended Barrel on a CZ-85B

I recently purchased an extended barrel for my CZ-85B to thread and add a suppressor to, however it doesn't seem to quite fit my handgun. The barrel was marketed as a CZ-75 barrel, however the representative at CZ USA ensured me that it was indeed compatible with the 85B.

As you can see, it fits, but the slide doesn't lock closed when the slide stop pin is installed....

My wife's CZ-85 Combat, her second, started to fail. She shot it Wednesday in our weekly plate league. I was cleaning it tonight and did my customary inspection during the cleaning. Once again the right side slide lock collar had fractured and a crack has formed in the frame in the thin are above it. Replacing the slide lock would be easy but the crack int he frame is a different matter. Torsional forces have caused the frame in are to be 0.012" out of line creating a small but...

I just purchased my first CZ-85 COMBAT, a model I've been wanting for some time, but I'm wondering what you would think of upgrading this model as follows...

Offer a stainless steel model using a slide with concave cocking serrations, and a Novak Extreme Duty adjustable rear sight, in tritium of course. Update the frame shape to be the same as the CZ-75B SA and use the extended (and reversible!) magazine release of the SP-01 and CZ-75B Stainless. I think...

Man, I just got some really discouraging news. This is only the 4th new CZ pistol I've acquired, all within the last two years, and now it's the second one that's had a broken trigger return spring within the first month or two of owning it. It's not so much the spring itself, that's a relatively small matter and expense for CZ to handle under warranty. But it concerns me greatly in what this implies about the unreliability of these guns.

I found a pair of the--now discontinued--Pachmayr Signature grips for CZ 75/85 models. The interesting thing is, you put on the side rubber grips, and there's also rubber panels that wrap around the front strap and back strap. The side panels are supposed to hold them in.

But I cannot get the rubber piece mounted on the front strap. If I try, it prevents the side panel grips from seating properly. I must have tried 50 different times. I finally gave up and just went with...

I got a lead on a used 85, seller says no other markings but re-imported by Magnum Research. Serial is low, 00150. Date was real old.

Price is 319.00 out the door with 1 mag. If this works with a Kadet kit it might be a quick means to and end. Any thoughts?

Does anyone get checkering done on their CZ's? Tonight I received a Pachmayr rubber grip set designed for CZ 75/85's. It's the kind with the 2 side panels, plus the front and rear backstrap inserts that you put the edges under the grips to hold them down.

But this got me to wondering: maybe for CZ's you plan to keep, it'd be much better to just get checkering done. Does anybody out there, including the CZ custom shop, do this?

Finally got her out for an extended try-out today. Flawless! Not a hiccup in nearly 100 rounds. I was ripping out ragged holes in the 9/10 rings at about 50 feet at the indoor range. The trigger and sights on this thing are magnificent; best out-of-box trigger I've had on ANY pistol. It's hanging right in there around 5 pounds, but very smooth.

I also got a bonus: my .22lr CZ Kadet fit right on my 85 frame, and was scary accurate! So I did a bunch of shooting with the...

Mags for CZ85 Combat Nickel

I just got a nickel CZ75 Combat at Gander Mountain and was disappointed that it came with 2 blue 10-round magazines. The price was very good and I have other CZ mags to fit the gun, however, I was thinking the mags for this gun should be nickel to match the gun. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Stock trigger on the 85 combat

When I got my new combat a week or so ago, the SA trigger pull out of the box was running consistently between 5 and 5.5 pounds. This was measured with a Lyman digital gage, as the average of 10 pulls. Since then it's been nonstop rain, and I haven't even gotten to fire the new gun yet at the range(!), but I have done about 500 dry-firing pulls with snap caps. Tonight I took an average of the SA trigger pull again, and now it's running exactly 4.5 lbs. So, with 500 trigger...
